With server rendering and optimized loading of images and fonts, Next.js makes good Core Web Vitals easier to reach, a signal Google takes into account.
SEO
Content reaches search engines already rendered, with metadata, sitemap and structured data that are easy to manage per page.
Maintenance
Being component-based, the site is easier to evolve and test than one assembled from templates.
When not to use it
For a very simple page that rarely changes, a static site or a content management system can be enough and cheaper.
